Archie x The Army of Darkness Creative Team Announced
Things are about to get groovy in Riverdale. Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics have revealed the creative team for their crossover, Archie x The Army of Darkness. The book was first teased at New York Comic Con, and now the publishers have shared that Erik Burnham will write and Bill Galvan will illustrate the book.
Burnham is returning to the world of Ash Williams, having written Army of Darkness vs. Reanimator: Necronomicon Rising, while Galvan has been a regular artist on Archie comics for the last 20 years.
Ash has been in a never-ending battle with Deadites – whether it’s at an isolated cabin in the woods, far in the past, or while working at S-Mart. His situation seems to have taken a turn for the better when he arrives in the idyllic town of Riverdale. Unfortunately, where Ash goes, the evil follows.
Archie Andrews finds the Necronomicon Ex Mortis and accidentally summons the Deadites. Now Ash must work with the citizens of Riverdale to fight the monsters while Archie tries to undo his mistake.
“I’m excited that I get to inconvenience Ash once again by pitting him against the forces of evil, but to also get a crack at writing the genuine American icons that are Archie and the gang at the same time? Pinch me,” Burnham said.
“Having read the script for issue 1, I can assure you that Erik Burham’s story is going to take readers on a thrill ride that pays homage to the best of both worlds,” Archie Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante said. “Plus, Bill Galvan’s been an Archie mainstay for years, who continuously impresses us both with his ability to perfectly capture the essence of the Archie characters, while also creating eye-catching, outside the box, and sometimes downright horrifying art on his array of specialty variant covers. This series will be a treat for fans of both franchises!”
The crossover will feature covers by regular Archie and Dynamite artists, including Galvan, Robert Hack, Laura Braga, Craig Cermak, and Stuart Sayger. There will also be a premium mystery blind bag for the first issue that includes three limited editions randomly selected from the variants. Two covers by Galvan and Francesco Francavilla will only be available in the blind bag, plus line art variants and colored blanks.
The first issue will be in comic shops in February 2026.
