Archie is Mr. Justice #4
Archie; $4.99
Each issue of Archie is Mr. Justice has been told from a different perspective. First Jughead, then Betty, Veronica, and now it falls to Archie Andrews’ frenemy Reggie Mantle. They have had a long history as rivals, and old grudges run deep.
Archie and Reggie used to be friends, but things turned sour a long time ago. As Archie prospered with cool friends and girls fighting over him, Reggie felt like he was left on the outside. A rocky relationship with his father didn’t help – especially after Mr. Justice emerged and became his father’s fixation while reporting for the Riverdale Gazette. When Reggie has the opportunity to gain superpowers, he doesn’t hesitate.
The format of this book is very interesting. Readers see multiple perspectives on the Riverdale superhero and the impact he has on their lives. This issue by Blake Howard could have painted Reggie as the arrogant jerk and left it at that. But instead, readers get a deeper glimpse into his life and the ways that decisions that don’t seem that bad can become serious very quickly. Artist Federico Sabbatini and colorist Glenn Whitmore drive the point home by expressing Reggie’s inner turmoil and an action-packed fight between Kid Wicked and Mr. Justice.
