Archie & Friends: Space Adventures
Archie; $4.99
Dilton has built a rocket and Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Jughead are going to be the first teenagers in space. When the voyage doesn’t go as smoothly as planned, the quartet get some help from Cosmo the Merry Martian.
The second story is set many years ago on Mars where the Martian Archie Andromeda hopes to impress Veronica with his project for the interplanetary science fair. In the final tale, Archie imagines what it would be like to visit the International Space Station with his friends.
One of the great things about Archie comics is that they characters can be dropped into any genre/location/timeline and make it work. That holds true in Archie & Friends: Space Adventures.
The one-shot takes the humor, style, and energy of Archie books and puts those elements into the unlikely scenario of teenagers in space and supplants the Riverdale gang on Mars. The creative teams nailed theme with the space and Mars settings, while keeping the stories grounded in Archie style. It was another fun themed book.
