This week Geppi’s Entertainment Auctions’ Hake’s Americana website has classic collectible pins and buttons for sale. Celebration is the theme for many items, including a colorful “Fraser’s” store Santa button. Measuring 1.25” Santa is holding a book titled “Good Girls – Good Boys”, the button displays mint. Before Christmas, celebrate college and homecoming with a “Red Grange Homecoming University of Illinois Ohio – Illinois October 13, 1934” oval button. It pictures Red and Zup measuring 1.75 x 2.75”, it is only the second one seen, is rare, and in near mint condition. Representing fairs are a 1939 New York World’s Fair event button in excellent condition, it measures 2.25” with “Order of the Golden Chain World’s Fair Day October 8th, 1939” and a superb large 1898 Expo logo button, it measures 1.75” with intense color in excellent condition.
Active men are part of this week’s sale, including an historic Jackie Robinson 1947 Rookie of the Year button, measuring 1.75” with browntone photo and white text, displaying mint condition. Another ball player is seen on a rare Jugate button featuring 1880s player turned evangelist Reverend and “Ma” Sunday, likely circa 1916, it measures 1.25”, and is in near mint condition. Featured this week is a collection of six outstanding photo buttons for Modern Woodmen of America, they were issued in 1901 for the St. Paul Convention, overall are in excellent condition, two of the rare buttons measure 1.25” and the other four measure 1.5”. Uncle Sam is also outdoorsy on an Uncle Sam Headed to Cuba large brass shell pin, scare in this large size it measures 2” tall and is in fine condition.
