A copy of Amazing Spider-Man #3 CGC 8.0 sold on eBay for $3,995 when the bidder used the Buy It Now option. The Silver Age Marvel comic includes off-white pages and is in very fine condition. Published in July 1963, it includes the origin and first appearance of Doctor Octopus. Boasting a cover and art by Steve Ditko and story by Stan Lee, it also includes an appearance by Human Torch.

Doctor Octopus was created by Spider-Man creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Originally, Doctor Octavius was a nuclear physicist, inventor, atomic researcher, and lecturer. He created an interface, connecting his brain to a computer to assist with his research. While wearing the mechanical arms apparatus, an accident involving radiation fused them to his body, and mutated his brain. The incredibly intelligent scientist became one of Spider-Man’s greatest enemies, obsessed with proving he is a genius by destroying Spider-Man.
