Aethon Books, a publisher that specializes in science fiction and fantasy stories, has become a majority stake holder of Vault Comics. The indie comics publisher is also known for their sci-fi, fantasy, and horror works.

Vault is known for comics like Money Shot, Barbaric, The Autumnal, and Heathen. Aethon Books has published e-books and audio books including Defiance of the Fall, Primal Hunter, and He Who Fights with Monsters.

Vault CEO Damian Wassel and CCO Adrian Wassel will continue to run Vault, with Aethon’s Rhett Bruno and Steve Beaulieu joining Vault’s board.

“The goal is to expand what we’ve been able to offer everyone we’ve been working with across the publishing line,” Damian Wassel said. He noted that through the deal, Vault can add more product categories, and they will have a bigger marketing budget.

Prior to this deal, Vault and Aethon had already partnered on adaptations and tie-ins of each publisher’s work. Aethon published e-book and audiobook adaptations of Vault comics, while Vault published comics and graphic novels based on Aethon’s books.

“Since we met the team at Vault, we have shared a vision of creating a one-stop-shop for the next generation of market-leading fantasy and science fiction authors and their stories. By joining forces with Vault, we believe we are one step closer to that dream,” Aethon CEO Rhett C. Bruno said.

Damian Wassel stated that they will announce projects and licenses soon.
