Superman Faces Consequences in New Trailer
Superman is motivated to help people, but that doesn’t mean his help is always wanted or accepted by governments. These complexities of being a superhero run throughout the new Superman trailer.
It begins with Clark Kent (David Corenswet) agreeing to be interviewed by Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) as Superman, confirming that she will know both his identities in the movie. Being the intrepid journalist that she is, Lois asks the tough questions about his involvement in an international incident and the scrutiny he is facing for his actions.
As Superman and Lois debate his decisions, the trailer shows the Man of Steel fighting multiple foes and saving people, while Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) breaks into the Fortress of Solitude with the Engineer (María Gabriela De Faría). Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor) encourages his son and Lex laments how the world has become obsessed with Superman. We see more of the other DC heroes like Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan). Superman battles a giant monster and the Engineer, and even Krypto gets his time in the spotlight.
Directed by James Gunn, Superman is the first movie in Gunn and Peter Safran’s “Gods and Monsters” film series. It is set at a time when Superman is already operating as a superhero in Metropolis and Clark is a reporter for the Daily Planet.
Superman also stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., and Neva Howel as Martha Kent.
Superman flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
