ACE Grading Company is joining the field of professional comic book grading services. The company officially opened for business on April 28, 2025.

ACE was founded by lifelong comic fans Rob Pillsbury and Jeff Mara who have years of experience in the grading industry. Per their press release, the company was born from the idea “to build the grading company they always wished existed.”

“At ACE, we’re not just graders – we’re collectors too,” Mara said. “We know the frustration of slow turnarounds, inconsistent results, expensive fees, and hidden costs. That’s why we’re committed to doing things differently.”

There will be no membership requirements or what they describe as “junk” fees. Their encapsulation holder features an exclusive built-in hanger tab for display purposes, and free professional pressing services and prescreening for pressing. Each graded book comes with a QR code that links to their database that includes high quality photos and grading notes. They also offer in-person submissions.
