ABC Renews S.H.I.E.L.D., Adds Agent Carter
ABC TV has renewed Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has added Marvel’s Agent Carter to their line-up.
Although SHIELD started strong and then faded in the ratings, it rebounded well with its strong tie-in to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Its resurgence was packed with twists, turns, betrayals and new characters, including Deathlok.
For Marvel’s Agent Carter, Hayley Atwell returns as Agent Peggy Carter from Captain America: The First Avenger and the Agent Carter “Marvel One-Shot” short film featured on the Iron Man 3 DCD and Blu-ray release. The one-shot apparently served as the pilot because the project was picked up straight to series, Deadline has reported. It will be apparently continue with its immediate post-war setting.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Agent Carter will be a short-order series and likely used as a ‘bridge show’ to air during the second season hiatus of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, with both series ultimately being tied-in together.”
In addition to these two series, Marvel Studios is developing Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Daredevil as series for Netflix with a Defenders mini-series set to follow.
