A Twist on Sleeping Beauty in Briar Comic
BOOM! Studios has revealed the first look at Briar, the four-issue limited comic series that reimagines the classic Sleeping Beauty fairy tale as a dark fantasy.
“What if Sleeping Beauty never got her happily ever after… and instead had to save herself? Set in a brutal fantasy world that time forgot, this isn’t the fairy tale you know,” the description reads.
The comic is written by writer, producer, and director Christopher Cantwell (Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body), with artist Germán García (Ka-Zar: Lord of the Savage Land), colorist Matheus Lopes (Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow), and letterer AndWorld Design (The Many Deaths of Laila Starr).
Briar #1 features a main cover by García and variant covers by Yanick Paquette (The Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country) with colors by Lopes, Mirka Andolfo (Red Sonja, Women of Marvel), and Jenny Frison (Wonder Woman).
The first issue will be in comic shops on September 28, 2022.
