A Superhero with a Very Different Message

there, it can be a challenge to find suitable new material for children. That’s
why we wanted to tell you about PowerMark. PowerMark is the super-creation of
U.S. Assemblies of God missionary Steve Benintendi. And no matter what your
spiritual beliefs are, there’s just no denying PowerMark’s positive message.
First introduced in Malaysia and Singapore (where much of Benintendi’s
missionary work takes place), the story of PowerMark is set in the future – a
future threatened by an evil organization known as Leviathan. We meet our hero,
Captain Mark Chen, who is given a very unique mission after being wounded in
combat with one of the leviathan henchmen. The mission? To produce virtual
reality episodes (known as VRE) of the Bible, using an 11-member crew of
children from various nations. It is these children who ultimately give the
Captain the name of PowerMark.
Each issue features verses and an
illustrated story from the Bible, and, seeing as 1 million copies have already
been sold, it’s safe to assume that the comic is succeeding in teaching children
their Bible stories.
PowerMark is available in Christian
bookstores in the U.S, and in a secular market worldwide. Check him out, he may
be just the role model kids need today.
