DC’s Next Level initiative is growing with titles starring Firestorm and Zatanna, and the publisher is exploring the history of Bizarro with a Year One book. Bizarro: Year None, Zatanna, and The Fury of Firestorm will begin in April 2026.

Bizarro: Year None is a four-issue limited series that explores Bizarro’s origin. It is written by Clerks director Kevin Smith (also known for writing a Green Arrow series) and Eric Carrasco (Supergirl) with art and cover by Nick Pitarra (The Manhattan Projects).

In the series, Jimmy Olsen and Perry White leave the safety of the Daily Planet for a bizarre adventure in outer space. They travel to a different dimension that mirrors Metropolis and considers the Planet to be a quintessential publication. The pair will investigate the mystery of the world and confront Bizarro to learn if he is a bumbling Superman fan, a bringer of chaos, or something else entirely.

The first issue comes with covers by Frank Quitely, Fernando Pasarin, and Ibrahim Moustafa, and a foil variant by Pitarra. Bizarro: Year One #1 will be in comic shops on April 1.

The Fury of Firestorm by Jeff Lemire (Absolute Flash) and Rafael De Latorre (The Penguin) is set in the idyllic town of Bedford, Colorado where things are about to change. Firestorm has arrived in town, but not as a hero. He is turning buildings into sand and people into glass, prompting the question: what has happened to Ronnie Raymond and why is he doing these terrible things?

The first issue has card stock variants by Chris Burnham and Riley Rossmo, a 1:25 incentive variant by Lemire, a foil edition of Burnham’s cover, a DC: Next Level variant by Jorge Corona, and a blank sketch cover. It arrives in comic shops on April 1.

In Zatanna by Jamal Campbell (Zatanna: It’s Showtime), she is the newest Prime Magus and must oversee and guide magic. Everyone is watching to see how she will handle the responsibility, which is made more challenging when she must deal with horrors in forgotten histories of magic.

The first issue comes with card stock variants by Adam Hughes and Kyuyong Eom, a 1:25 inventive variant by Julian Totino Tedesco, a foil edition of Hughes’ cover, a Next Level variant by Corona, and a blank sketch cover. It debuts in comic shops on April 29.

DC Next Level titles will feature new directions for characters like Batwoman, Deathstroke, The Demon, Firestorm, Lobo, Barbara Gordon, Jonah Hex, Zatanna, the Teen Titans, and others. Creators working on the books include Jeff Lemire, Greg Rucka, Javier Rodríguez, Jamal Campbell, Skottie Young, Mariko Tamaki, James Harren, Kyle Higgins, Joshua Williamson, Daniele Di Nicuolo, Michael Walsh, Carmine Di Giandomenico, Rafael De Latorre, Jorge Corona, Tony Fleecs, Amancay Nahuelpan, Deniz Camp, DaNi, and others.
