The most famous lasagna-loving, Monday hating orange tabby is going back to his kitten days in a new comic book series. In Baby Garfield, readers will see the beloved cartoon cat experience some of his milestone first moments. The four-issue miniseries from BOOM! Studios begins in March 2026.

The first issue contains two short stories, with writer Grace Ellis (Lumberjanes) and artist Asia Simone (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) recording Garfield’s first word, and writer Michael Northrop (Dear Justice League) and artist Rob Justus (Superman’s Good Guy Gang) will witness Garfield’s first hairball.

Creators contributing to the book also include Ben Clanton (Narwhal and Jelly), Stephanie Cooke (The Racc Pack), Brittany Williams (Mixed-Up), Whitney Gardner (Free Piano), Jordan Morris (Youth Group), Olivia Amoah (Here Are The Seeds), and Kay Davault (Misfit Mansion).

Baby Garfield #1 features a main cover by Agnes Garbowska with colors by Sil Brys, and variants by Rob Justus and Asia Simone. The first issue will be in comic shops on March 18.
