D’orc is a high fantasy satire comic that follows a half orc/half dwarf desperate to find friends who ends up in the middle of a war. The book is crafted by artist Brett Bean and colorist Jean-François Beaulieu with the deadpan humor they showcased in I Hate Fairyland. Image has revealed some of the variant covers that will be available in early issues.

“Armed with nothing but a wisecracking enchanted shield and a crippling need for friendship, a lonely orphan stumbles headfirst into Sunderaine’s never-ending war. Light vs. Dark. Elves vs. Orcs. Wizards vs. Common Sense. Dragons vs. Literally Everyone. And caught dead-center? D’orc,” the synopsis reads.

“Half dwarf, half orc, and wholly inconvenient to a doomsday prophecy, D’orc’s fated to end the world. Soon, every human, elf, goblin, dwarf, Snargletooth, Necroid, Ice Giant, Trauma Llama, and at least three other unpronounceable magical creatures will know his name. Unfortunately, so will his enemies,” per the synopsis.

The book will come with variant covers by Jorge Corona (Transformers), Jason Howard (The Astounding Wolf-Man), Ryan Ottley (Invincible), Ryan Stegman (Venom), Riley Rossmo (The Moon is Following Us), and Mirka Andolfo (Sweet Paprika), plus more will be announced.

“I am a massive fan of all of these creators and it’s a magical feeling to see their interpretations of the universe and how they see this D’orc,” Bean said. “I couldn’t be happier, not only for their talent but who they are as people.”

D’orc #1 will be out on February 4 with a cover A by Bean, cover B by Corona, cover C by Howard, cover D 1:25 incentive by Ottley, cover E 1:50 incentive by Stegman, and cover F blank sketch.

D’orc #2 is scheduled for release on March 11 with cover A by Bean, cover B by Rossmo, and cover C to be announced.

D’orc #3 is out on April 8 with cover A by Bean and cover B by Andolfo.
