Marvel is taking a tongue in cheek approach to their new series, Wonder Man. The MCU released a full-length trailer for the show, starring a struggling actor who wants to play the titular superhero in the next big movie.

The trailer introduces the main players. First there’s Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) an actor who desperately wants the role and is hiding his own superpowers to get it. He is aided by Trevor Slatterly (Ben Kingsley) the actor who once played the fake terrorist known as the Mandarin (introduced in Iron Man 3). Then there’s Von Kovak (Zlatko Buric) a reclusive, Oscar winning director who appears to be making his first foray into superhero movies.

Based on what we see in the trailer, Wonder Man will be a quirky series that highlights their comedic antics. Simon is nervous and frenetic while trying to secure the role and protect his secret powers, Trevor displays the same oddball behavior from previous appearances, and Kovak looks like an unkempt artistic genius. Not only will the show go meta with the casting process for a superhero movie, the trailer also acknowledges current issues faced by Marvel like superhero fatigue.

Wonder Man was created by Stan Lee, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby as a villain with a host of superpowers that included superstrength, ionic energy manipulation, and flight, among others. He debuted in The Avengers #9 (October 1964) as an antagonist, but eventually he went through significant changes and became a hero, even joining the Avengers.

Wonder Man also stars Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, Adrian Moayed, Jere Burns, Jon Abrahams, and Charlotte Ross.

The eight-episode season will start streaming on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
