Thor Takes the Spotlight in Avengers: Doomsday Teaser
With just under a year until Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel Entertainment is starting to ramp up their marketing. A new teaser trailer has dropped, catching up with Thor and setting up his state of mind for the new movie.
Just over a minute long, the teaser sees Thor (Chris Hemsworth) kneeling in the woods and offering a prayer to his father. He recounts how he has always answered the call of duty, fighting many battles. Now, his life has changed as he has become a surrogate father (following the events in Thor: Love and Thunder). Thor asks Odin for the strength of the All-Fathers for the strength to fight in one more battle, then return to his daughter to teach her the warmth and stillness that he did not have while growing up.

A week before Thor’s trailer, Marvel Entertainment dropped a teaser promising the return of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). That video shows Steve pulling up to a home in the country, pulling his old costume out of a crate, and then ends with holding a baby. It is not known how he will return to the franchise since Steve chose to stay in his original timeline, marry Peggy and grow old with her, appearing one last time in the present as an elderly man.
This is the first Avengers film since the team defeated Thanos in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. The movie will star a massive cast of characters from the earlier incarnation of the MCU, more recent additions, and Marvel characters who appeared in 20th Century Fox and Sony’s Marvel movies. Fellow original Avengers actor Robert Downey Jr. is also returning to the MCU, but in the new role of Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom.
Avengers: Doomsday will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
