Dani Moonstar to Star in First Solo Comic Series
Danielle “Dani” Moonstar, a leader among mutant kind, is set to star in her first ever solo series, starting in March 2026. Moonstar will be written by Ashley Allen (Magik) and illustrated by Edoardo Audino (Astonishing X-Men Infinity Comic). The five-issue limited series is part of the Shadows of Tomorrow era in X-Men.
Dani Moonstar has been a member of the New Mutants, the X-Men, helped train young mutants, and she was a Valkyrie of Asgard. She can telepathically create illusions and manifest weapons out of psionic energy, which she will rely on when a new threat emerges. Per Marvel’s description “…an ancient, soul-sucking weapon is set loose” and Dani must stop the person wielding it. But, recent tragedies are weighing on Dani, and she is second guessing her ability to stop the threat.
“I’m so excited to be returning to tell the next chapter of Dani’s story!” Allen said. “She has been such a monumental character in both the Marvel Universe and in people’s lives – exemplifying what it means to be a true leader. I can’t believe this is the character’s first-ever solo series and I can’t wait to show readers what adventure we have in store for Dani!”
“Working on the first-ever Dani Moonstar solo series feels great, especially after reading the Magik run written by Ashley,” Audino said. “In this story there’s everything I want as a reader – magic, fighting, even a little bit of romance – so getting to draw it is super fun! And on top of that, I got to do one of my favorite things in comics: designing a brand new villain!”
The first issue will feature covers by Germán Peralta, variants by Joshua “Sway” Swaby and Marcos Martin, and a hidden gem variant by Bob McLeod.
Moonstar #1 debuts in comic shops on March 4.
