ComicConnect’s Event Auction 64 began on Monday, November 17, 2025, with rare vintage comics and original art. That includes sketches drawn at Al Plastino’s original drawing table that was displayed at New York Comic Con (NYCC).

Event Auction 64 includes a true pop culture artifact with the original drawing table used by DC Comics artist Al Plastino. He joined DC in 1948, and went on to define the look of Superman and other beloved characters through the late 1960s while working on Action Comics, SupermanAdventure Comics, and more.

Many of the industry’s top talents stopped by the ComicConnect booth at NYCC to work at Plastino’s drawing table. These unique pieces are now being sold through Event Auction 64, with all proceeds going to St. Jude’s Hospital!

“This was such a perfect storm – the presence of Al’s desk at comic con, the artists who were willing to help, and our upcoming auction,” ComicConnect CEO and co-founder Vincent Zurzolo said. “We are so proud to be able to offer these one of a kind pieces while raising money for St. Jude’s.”

That includes a sketch of Batman by artist Jim Lee, who became president, publisher and chief creative officer of DC in 2023. “This is a chance to own a piece of comic history,” Zurzolo said. “Jim is simply one of the most respected and revered artists in our industry.”

Bill Sienkiewicz’s take on the Joker, Erik Larsen’s Savage Dragon, and David Mack’s Daredevil and Kabuki are also in the auction. Plastino’s influence on the Man of Steel is represented with pieces by Joe Rubenstein, Joe Staton, Alex Saviuk, and others.
