Titan; $4.99

The Doctor has been traveling through space with Belinda Chandra, a nurse who was abducted from Earth and wants very much to return home. Unfortunately, as they attempted to return to her time, the Doctor and Belinda learned that the fate of Earth had changed and was set to end on May 24, 2025.

While using a device called the Vindicator to collect information on what changed the present (and obliterated the future) of Earth, they have traveled to many times and different areas of the galaxy. During one such adventure, the Time Lord and nurse were separated, and she was kidnapped, then transported to Panoptopolis, the space prison where the most dangerous criminals of the universe are kept. The Doctor has infiltrated the prison, disguised as another new prisoner, to find Belinda and rescue her from a life sentence at Panoptopolis.

The first issue of Doctor Who: The Prison Paradox starts the story off strong. Writer Dan Watters, artist Sami Kivelä, and colorist Valentina Bianconi have captured the essence of the beloved sci-fi series and the specific personalities of the Fifteenth Doctor (played in the show by Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda (Varada Sethu). The Doctor is cheeky and confident, and Belinda is cautious and brave.

The art is fun on every page with accurate renderings of the lead characters, who are joined by a few well known Doctor Who villains and plenty of other unique creatures. The colors are bright, and the art well defined, giving it the family-friendly feel of the TV show.
