The King’s Row fencing team has advanced to the quarterfinals and are ready for the next level of competition in Fence Breakthrough: Quarter Clash. The new story written by series co-creator C.S. Pacat and illustrated by series co-creator Johanna the Mad will begin in January 2026.

Fence began in 2017, introducing Nicholas Cox, who aspires to become a fencing champion like his father. He earns a scholarship to the Kings Row school where he joins the drama and competition of the fencing team. The original BOOM! title ran for 12 issues through 2018, the Fence: Redemption miniseries was in 2023, followed by the one-shots, Fence Challengers: Long Shot #1, Fence Challengers: Sweet Sixteen #1, and Fence Breakthrough: Game Changer #1

Their next competition in the quarterfinals puts them in line for a match with Exton.

“But Aiden, as usual, has started to check out, and worse – no one’s even surprised,” per the synopsis. “Can Harvard figure out how to keep Aiden’s head in the game before the team falls apart? Or will they be faced with the difficult choice to press on to victory without him?”

Fence Breakthrough: Quarter Clash #1 has a main cover by series artist Johanna the Mad and variants by Sina Grace. The first issue will be in comic shops on January 7.
