The Energon Universe’s New Era Presented at NYCC

Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with Hasbro, explored the Energon Universe at their New York Comic Con panel. Creators Robert Kirkman (Void Rivals), Joshua Williamson (G.I. Joe), Dan Mora (Transformers), Jorge Corona (Transformers), Tom Reilly (G.I. Joe), Conor Hughes (Void Rivals) and Ben Abernathy (Executive Editor for the Energon Universe at Skybound) revealed new covers, interior pages, and character designs for upcoming issues.

Transformers #25 got the new creative team of Kirkman and Mora, as well as the first appearance of Miles Mayhem, the main antagonist in Hasbro’s M.A.S.K. franchise. The panel revealed covers and interior art for Transformers #26, and they announced the return of Autobot Brawn in Transformers #27 in December 2025.

The G.I. Joe creative team of Williams and Reilly gave a look at the Dreadnok War arc, including character designs for Dreadnoks Ripper, Zarana, Zandar, and Torch. They revealed covers for the storyline that begins in G.I. Joe #13 in November, and runs through issue 17. The creators announced that Road Pig will debut in G.I. Joe #14 and issue 18 will be a standalone Night Force issue with the first appearance of Roadblock. More news included character designs for the Night Force team of Lady Jaye, Flint, Beach Head, and Shooter, and M.A.S.K. leader Matt Trakker will return in G.I. Joe #19.

Kirkman teased horrors and surprises that could be found in the Sacred Ring during the Quintesson War arc that starts in Voice Rivals #25 in December. Andrei Bressan (Destro) will join the team as series artist on what they described as the biggest story yet in Void Rivals. Covers for Void Rivals #25-26 were also shown.
