Leia & Rey to Reunite in Star Wars Novel
Two of the galaxy’s most powerful and impactful figures are set to reunite in a new Star Wars novel. During their New York Comic Con panel, Lucasfilm Publishing announced that Leia Organa and Rey Skywalker would be together again in Star Wars: Legacy by Madeleine Roux. The book is scheduled for publication in the summer of 2026.
The book is set in the months between Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, after Luke Skywalker’s death and Kylo Ren’s rise to power. Leia and Rey will work together to repair the Skywalker lightsaber and try to revive the Jedi Order. The book will see the pair growing closer together despite their complicated connections through Luke (Leia’s brother and Rey’s first mentor) and Kylo (Leia’s son and Rey’s potential love interest). They will travel to the planet Tython in search of a Jedi temple where they might find what’s needed to repair Rey’s lightsaber.

“Rey and Leia’s nascent mentorship is put to the test when they discover the temple on Tython is filled with obscure clues to decipher and arcane trials to complete,” per the synopsis. “As they work to unravel the temple’s mysteries, they encounter a group of refugees living in its shadow, hiding from a First Order officer hot on the trail of two freedom fighters in their midst. With the threat of the First Order looming and the secrets of the temple yet to be unlocked, the newly forged master and apprentice must confront their pasts, reach each other in the present, and decide what it means to carry the legacy of the Jedi into the future.”
Lucasfilm Publishing dropped plenty of other news on Star Wars books at New York Comic Con, including the franchise’s first romance novel, Eyes Like Stars, by Ashley Poston.

On the sequential art side, they revealed the Star Wars: Visions: Tsukumo manga from VIZ Media that follows a Jedi Knight and pair of droids as they try to find a rumored “Droids’ Paradise” following the execution of Order 66. The Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures – Pathfinders comic miniseries at Dark Horse sees a new team of Republic Pathfinders investigating the death of a Jedi Master.
There are several new art books that showcase the concept and creation of Star Wars movies and TV shows. They include The Art of The Mandalorian and Grogu by Phil Szostak, Industrial Light & Magic: 50 Years of Innovation by Ian Failes, The Art of Star Wars: Andor (The Complete Series) by Phil Szostak and Abrams Books, Doug Chiang: The Cinematic Legacy Vols. 1-2, and The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte.
