Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition is getting an expanded volume via Skybound and Act 4 Publishing. The book features his work on My World, Came the Dawn, Mars is Heaven, Atom Bomb, Blockade, and more, plus over a dozen of his covers, and the unpublished “Spawn of Venus” story that was supposed to run in Three-Dimensional Science Fiction but it was canceled. Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition – Expanded is due out in February 2026.

Wood landed his first comic work with Will Eisner as a back-up artist on The Spirit in 1948, then he worked with several other publishers including EC. After trying multiple genres with EC, he soon found his niche in science fiction. His work on Weird Fantasy and Weird Science proved that no one could draw spaceship interior instrumentation and machinery like him.

“The older I get, the more I appreciate Wally Wood’s immense talent,” Act 4 Publishing’s Scott Dunbier said. “EC Comics was the gold standard for comic art in the early 1950s, and Wood was arguably their shining star. So many of his best stories are represented here, and some hidden gems, in one massive tome.”

The book contains over 200 pages with 18 stories from the out of print first edition, plus 10 other stories that are appearing in the book for the first time. The black and white art has been scanned in color that highlights the ink gradients, blue pencil, and other aspects of the original composition. The art book is published in the large 15” x 22” size to mirror the size of the original art.

“Wood is one the pillars of comics and storytelling, and this book is an amazing showcase of his talent and versatility,” Senior Editor Nachie Marsham said. “It also showcases the themes that Wood brought to his stories, from fantastical adventure to social commentary to science fiction and beyond.”

This book is the latest in Act 4 Publishing and Skybound’s artist edition publishing partnership. Upcoming releases scheduled for late 2025 and 2026 include Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition, The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition, Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition, George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition, and Mike Mignola’s Hellboy in Hell Book 2 Artist’s Edition.

Other planned titles are J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl Artist EditionDave Stevens’ Covers and Stories’ Connoisseur EditionJason Pearson’s Body Bags Artist’s Edition, and Paul Smith’s Leave It to Chance Artist’s Edition.

Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition – Expanded will be in comic shops on February 4, 2026.
