Lee & Romita’s Spider-Man Comic Strip Collection on Kickstarter
Stan Lee and John Romita’s Amazing Spider-Man classic comic strips have been collected in a deluxe softcover slipcase. The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Comics collection is being produced by Clover Press, in collaboration with The Library of American Comics. It is seeking backers on Kickstarter.
Spider-Man’s comic strip ran for 42 years in newspapers around the world, and it all started with stories written by Lee and illustrated by Romita. The pair began the strip in 1977 and worked on it together until 1980. They brought Spidey’s heroics and plucky energy, as well as his dangerous foes, to the strip.
“The Library of American Comics remastered and collected the strip in a series of hardcover collections, many of which are out of print, and highly sought after. Now, Clover Press and The Library of American Comics are bringing the collections back to print in an affordable softcover format,” per the Kickstarter campaign.

The popular strips have been reprinted and collected several times; however, this is the first major reprinting in softcover. The strips are collected by year in a four-volume set from ’77 to ’80. They measure 11” x 8-1/2” in horizontal format and are packed in a vertical slipcase.
Rewards levels start with all four books for $110, the books and a mousepad are $140, and those items plus stickers are $170. “The Works” tier has the books, mousepad, sticker pack, puzzle, lithograph, pocket book, and mini comic for $270. The retailer tier with four sets of all four books is $225.
The campaign goal was $10,000, and at press time it was up to nearly 13 times that amount, closing in on $130,000. The Kickstarter campaign is running until October 24, 2025.
