
Baltimore Con Announces Comic Creators in Family Alley
Baltimore Comic-Con is coming up soon on October 17-19, 2025, at the Baltimore Convention Center. The show will feature a Family Alley section filled with comic creators who make books for kids.
Carolyn Belefski creates and publishes original comics, like her comic strip, Curls, and she is the co-creator and artist of Black Magic Tales, French Fry Club, and The Legettes. She has worked on Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, Mine!, Rise: Comics Against Bullying, and District Comics: An Unconventional History of Washington, DC. Belefski is currently the DC chapter chair of the National Cartoonists Society.
Joe Carabeo is a writer and co-creator of The Legettes, French Fry Club, and Black Magic Tales. He has worked on anthology projects like Magic Bullet and District Comics: An Unconventional History of Washington, DC. As a filmmaker, he has worked with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Madeline Albright, the Beach Boys, U2’s Bono, ABC, NBC, NASA, Under Armour, and more.
Chris Flick is an illustrator, cartoonist, caricaturist, and web and graphic designer. In 2007, he created the Capes and Babes webcomic starring Roy the Werewolf, which now includes over 1,200 strips. The series has been collected into five trade paperbacks, and he created three all-ages coloring books.
Deans Family Productions is a family owned and operated company that creates books, comics, art, and toys for kids. Robert Deans started the company in 2014 with his book, Moo Thousand and Pun, starring Shakes the Cow. The second series, The Bear from AUNT, is a spy adventure with Stanley the Bear. Additional series include noir serials, choose your own adventure books, and picture books. Elinda Deans, Robert’s wife, has created a line of handmade toys based on their characters, and their comic, The Mighty Hippofartamus, was co-created by the Deans’ child.
Franco created the Dino-Mike book series and has worked on comics like Superman Family Adventures, Young Justice, Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam, Superpowers, Arkhamaniacs, and Tiny Titans. He also worked on Grimiss Island, Itty Bitty Hellboy, and Little Archie. His latest work includes Teen Titans Go to the Library, Deadman Tells the Spooky Tales, and Fae and the Moon.
Chris Giarusso is a writer-artist who created Mini Marvels and G-Man. He co-created and drew Hashtag: Danger! with Tom Peyer, and worked on Encounter. Recently, he has provided variant covers for Marvel on Venom, X-Men, and a set of 15 connected covers that recreates The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe in his Mini Marvel style.
Dawn Griffin is an illustrator known for her creator-owned sci-fi comic Zorphbert & Fred, and the self-esteem book series Abby’s Adventures. She contributed to Team Cul de Sac and RISE: Comics Against Bullying, and she co-founded Webcomic Alliance, an online resource and podcast for comic creators.
Nate Lovett has been working in comics and illustration since 2007, starting with Xombie: Reanimated. He has drawn comics, children’s books, and concept art for Marvel, Image, Action Lab, Nickelodeon, Hasbro, and others on projects like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dungeons & Dragons, Marvel Comics Presents, Paw Patrol, G.I. Joe, Bravest Warrior, and more. He recently completed work on the Commander Tomorrow graphic novel, Packrat & Thunderbunny, and Carter Kain & Punk Rawk Ninja.
Trevor Mueller is a comic writer whose latest work includes Nexus Point and Re-Possessed. He has written for Albert the Alien, Reading with Pictures, and he self-published Consumer, Beyond the Pillars, Los Ojos, and The Witches of E Wick Blvd.
Dan Parent is a comic artist and writer known for his work with Archie. He wrote the Love Showdown series, illustrated Felix the Cat and Barbie, co-created Die Kitty Die, and has also worked with Disney Adventures, Dynamite, DC, and Valiant. In 2010, he introduced Kevin Keller, Archie’s first openly gay character. He has worked on crossovers with KISS, the B-52’s, Blondie, Batman ’66, Sharknado, Predator, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, and Vampirella. He is currently working on Archie 80th anniversary projects, and the 60th anniversaries of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Josie and the Pussycats.
Barbara Perez Marquez writes comics and prose, is an editor, and a translator. Her work has been featured in literary journals and anthologies, and she created The Cardboard Kingdom about a neighborhood of kids who have adventures using cardboard. Her graphic novel, The Library of Memories, will be out in 2026.
Andy Runton is the creator of Owly, the owl who is always looking for new friends. The award winning book showcases Runton’s love of wildlife and the outdoors, and has been praised for its wisdom and charm.
“The Baltimore Comic-Con prides itself on being a family-friendly event,” Baltimore Comic-Con show promoter Marc Nathan said. “We have always offered kids 10 and under free admission and have had family-focused content for years! This year’s Family Alley guests, in addition to many other guests in the room with great kid-focused works like Jeff Smith and Stan Sakai, represent a broad range of content, from amazing self-published works to industry award-winning publications, not to mention having worked with some of the most recognizable brands out there, including Archie, DC and Marvel superheroes, TMNT, D&D, and more!”
Kids who are 10 years old and younger get in for free with an accompanying adult.
