The Mandalorian and Grogu Begin an Epic Adventure in First Teaser
The famous bounty hunter and cutest kid in the galaxy are embarking on their first big screen journey. Star Wars has dropped the first teaser trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu previewing the action, new and returning characters, and worlds they will be visiting.
“The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu (as himself),” per the synopsis.
The teaser trailer starts with a shot of the sleek new Razor Crest, then Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (using a tiny telescope) check out an Empire facility. Sigourney Weaver makes her debut in Star Wars in a comical exchange with Grogu. Mando makes evasive maneuvers in his ship, Zeb Orrelios returns, and we see Gorgu with his Anzellan friends. There’s a new Hutt, a gladiator style fight with monstrous creatures, AT-ATs on a cliffside, and more packed into the minute and a half-long teaser.
The Mandalorian and Grugu follows the third season of The Mandalorian. The show began five years after the events in Return of the Jedi and introduced the stoic bounty hunter Din Djarin when he gets hired to retrieve Grogu, an adorable child with burgeoning powers. Instead of handing him over, the Mandalorian decides to protect Grogu from Imperial forces and the pair become a family. The first season premiered on Disney+ in November 2019, followed by season two in 2020, and season three in 2023.
The movie is directed by The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau, who is also producing with fellow Mandalorian architect Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Ian Bryce.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will fly into theaters on May 22, 2026.
