Superheroes are getting a taste of horror in the Super Creepshow #1 anthology. Skybound and Image Comics are presenting the first look the book’s variant covers and interior pages that will see superheroes in dark and gruesome situations. The comic is based on Greg Nicotero’s horror anthology on Shudder and is licensed by Evoke Entertainment Company. It will be in comic shops in October 2025.

The Creep is taking readers through a chapter of superhero horror stories featuring comic creators like Dan Watters (Batman: Dark Patterns) and Carmine Di Giandomenico (Absolute Superman), Ryan Stegman (X-Men) and Riley Rossmo (The Moon Is Following Us), and Ed Brisson (Wolverine: Old Man Logan) and Andrei Bressan (The Uncanny X-Men, Dark Ride). Brian Witten is overseeing the project for Nicotero’s Monster Agency Productions.

In the first story by Watters and Di Giandomenico, a superhero returns from the grave – which could prove disastrous. Stegman and Rossmo’s story will follow the Grave Ghost superhero who must solve his own murder. Brisson and Bressan close the issue with a tale about a super serum being injected into someone that is more supervillain than superhero.

The book has a main homage cover by Pye Parr, plus variants by Di Giandomenico, Rossmo, and others.

Nicotero’s Creepshow anthology horror show ran for four seasons from 2019 to 2023. Several well known actors appeared in the series, particularly those associated with horror and science fiction. Adrienne Barbeau, Giancarlo Esposito, David Arquette, Jeffrey Combs, Keith David, Ashley Laurence, Ali Larter, Barbara Crampton, Denise Crosby, Justin Long, King Bach, Ethan Embry, and Michael Rooker were among the actors who appeared on the show.

The Creepshow franchise dates back to 1982 when horror icon George A. Romero directed and Stephen King wrote the first film. Two sequels followed, plus a TV series, and multiple comic books.

In addition to the anthology, the Creepshow Vol. 4 monthly series begins September 17. Creators working on the book include Jeremy Adams (Green Lantern), Eduardo Risso (100 Bullets), Rosie Knight and Oliver Ono (Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp), Rachel Pinnelas (I Know What You Did Last Crisis), Gabriel Walta (Vision), Ted Raimi and Thomas Krajewski, Ryan Carr (Archie’s Chilling Adventures Presents…), Alex Paknadel (Cult of the Lamb), Amilcar Pinna (Generation X), Philip Fracassi (Boys in the Valley), Robert Carey (Outsiders), Sina Grace (Detective Comics), Ramon Villalobos (Exit City), and many others.
