Star Trek Announces Plans for 60th Anniversary
In 2026, the Star Trek franchise celebrates its 60th anniversary. It began in 1966 with the original Star Trek TV series that introduced viewers to space explorers on the USS Enterprise. The series would inspire an entire multimedia franchise with movies, novels, comic books, and games, and built a loyal, long lasting fandom. On September 8, aka Star Trek Day, they announced plans and partnerships set for the milestone anniversary in 2026.
Some new content is now available, including Star Trek: Scouts. The animated YouTube series follows three 8-year-old kids who are already aspiring Starfleet Explorers. Developed and produced by Nickelodeon Digital Studio in association with CBS Studios, it is the first series from the franchise that is dedicated to preschoolers.

The new scripted podcast Star Trek: Khan debuted on September 8. The show “explores the untold events on Ceti Alpha V, chronicling Khan’s descent from a superhuman visionary into the vengeful villain seen in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” per the press release. The voice cast includes Naveen Andrews as Khan Noonien Singh, Wrenn Schmidt as Lieutenant Marla McGivers, and Sonya Cassidy as Dr. Rosalind Lear, with Tim Russ reprising Ensign Tuvok and George Takei back as Captain Sulu. New episodes will air weekly on Mondays through November 3 on podcast platforms and the Star Trek YouTube channel.

The 2026 celebrations begin on New Year’s Day when Star Trek will have its own float at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. The float’s design honors 60 years of Star Trek, with special emphasis on the new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, and will “reflect values of hope, inclusivity, exploration, and unity” per the press release.
The new Star Trek: Starfleet Academy TV series will begin in early 2026. The show is centered around a young group of cadets who experience new friendships, rivalries, romance, and difficult instructors all while a new enemy looms over the Federation. Holly Hunter is starring as the Chancellor of Starfleet and Paul Giamatti is playing the first season’s villain.

Star Trek: The Cruise is scheduled to set sail on February 20-27. The event marks a rare opportunity to participate in Star Trek focused activities at sea. William Shatner, Walter Koenig, and over 20 other actors from the franchise will be on the cruise and participate in special events.
Star Trek is partnering with DoSomething, a national organization for youth leadership and service. Their Boldly Go Green campaign is focused on “making an environmental impact in multiple locations” per the press release.
Paramount and the Lego Group announced a collaboration that will bring Star Trek into brick form for the first time. They did not reveal the Lego sets that will be made, however, more details are expected soon. Star Trek is also joining with Webtoon to produce digital comics with original stories set in the sci-fi world.
The Star Trek website has also added an anniversary hub with a calendar that provides news on activities, partnerships, events, and more content.
