Hellboy’s first appearance in color, a Godzilla splash by Herb Trimpe and Fred Kida, and a Return of the Jedi Atari game are among the notable lots in Heritage’s weekly auctions. The Comic Books Select Auction closes on Sunday through Tuesday, September 14-16, 2025, the Video Games Mini-Boss Auction ends on September 16, and the Comic Art and Illustration Auction wraps up on Wednesday, September 17.

Comic auction highlights begin with MAD #11 CGC 8.0, which satirized the “girl of the month” trend in men’s magazines by featuring the unattractive caricature called Lena the Hyena. John Byrne’s Next Men #21 CGC 9.8 presents the first full-color appearance of Hellboy and his second appearance overall.

The original art auction is led by Herb Trimpe and Fred Kida’s Godzilla #7 splash page 1 of the kaiju attacking while Dum Dum Dugan fights back. Scott Koblish’s Batman: The Caped Crusader Giant #1 page 1 shows Batman and Nightwing escorting the Joker back to Arkham Asylum.

The video game auction presents Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Death Star Battle CGC 7.5 (glue seal) for Atari 2600 in which players piloted the Millennium Falcon against TIE Interceptors before facing the Death Star. Comics and video games meet in Super Mario Bros. Special Edition #1, which was Valiant’s first comic and featured exclusive scenes from the upcoming Super Mario Bros. 3 game.
