DC and Penguin Random House Audio are collaborating on a new audio adaptation based on the Kingdom Come limited series. The audiobook will be adapted by Dirk Maggs and features a cast of over 30 actors with original music and sound effects. It will be available in November 2025.

Published in 1996, Kingdom Come was created by the talented team of Mark Waid and Alex Ross. It’s set in an alternate future where heroes of our time have retired from saving the day and retreated from being public figures. In their place is a group whose crime stopping methods lack a moral compass and are dangerous as the villains they fight. Soon, the Justice League grow weary of their dangerous behavior and come out of retirement to stop them.

“I’ve been adapting and directing multicast, award-winning audiobooks of iconic DC Comics Superman and Batman stories for more than three decades, but among them all, Kingdom Come was always the one that got away,” Maggs said. “At last, thanks to Penguin Random House Audio, I can tell Mark Waid’s epic story, with Alex Ross’s beautiful artwork brought alive through cinematic sound design combined with James Hannigan’s stirring orchestral score.”

This audiobook is the second audio adaptation from DC and Penguin Random House Audio. Their first, All-Star Superman, was released earlier in the summer of 2025 with another iconic story about the Man of Steel. Kingdom Come will feature prominent voice actor Marc Thompson (Star Wars, Pokémon) as Superman, returning to the role he originated in All-Star Superman. The audiobook will also introduce Batman and Wonder Woman to the new series of audio adventures.

Thompson is joined in the voice cast by Glenn Wrage as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Lorelei King as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Kerry Shale as the Spectre/Jim Corrigan, William DeMeritt as Billy Batson, Edoardo Ballerini as Norman McCay, Garrick Hagon as Wesley Dodds, Tom Alexander as Magog, John Chancer as UN Secretary Wyrmwood, and Ray Porter as Lex Luthor.

The voice cast also includes Nezar Alderazi, Jennifer Armour, Karen Bartke, Laurence Bouvard, Torian Brackett, Reba Buhr, E.A. Castillo, Joe Duley, Vas Eli, Ashleigh Haddad, David Holt, David Lee Huynh, J.D. Jackson, January LaVoy, Laurel Lefkow, Tim Lounibos, Theo Maggs, Alan Marriott, Eric Meyers, Kai Christian Mortiz, Harry Myers, and Martin Sherman.

The Kingdom Come audiobook will be out on November 18.
