As ComicConnect begins Event Auction 63, they are looking back as some of the notable sales of vintage comics and original art made at summer conventions.

At HeroesCon in North Carolina, they sold Superboy #68 7.0 (featuring the first appearance of Bizarro) for $3,500, Archie Comics #3 5.5 with the first Betty/Veronica triangle cover for $3,200, J. Scott Campbell’s Danger Girl/G.I. Joe #2-4 multi-character triptych connecting covers for $22,500, and Andy Kubert’s X-Men #22 page capturing Beast, Gambit, Psylocke, and Revanche in action for $9,000.

At the inaugural Comic Collector Show in Torrance, California, ComicConnect sold a Darwyn Cooke’s Catwoman #3 page for $12,500, a Bernie Wrightson Batman: The Cult #1 page for $7,500, and Greg Land’s Symbiote Spider-Man #4 Mysterio splash for $3,000.

Their sales at San Diego Comic-Con included Action Comics #1 9.0 with moderate restoration for $550,000, Wonder Comics #2 9.2 for $85,000, and Amazing Fantasy #15 5.0 for $50,000. Fantastic Four #16.5 brought $40,000, Giant-Size X-Men #1 9.8 went for $33,000, and X-Men #1 6.5 sold for $22,500.

Other San Diego sales included Star Wars #1 8.0 35¢ variant for $8,000, Young Allies #4 7.5 for $8,700, Amazing Spider-Man #1 2.5 for $8,000, a raw copy of 1951’s Reform School Girl for $8,250, and George Pérez’s Infinity Gauntlet #3 page of heroes uniting against Thanos sold for $50,000.

Then at TerrifiCon in Connecticut, they sold Amazing Spider-Man #1 6.0 for $22,500 – wrapping up a big summer of sales.
