Marvel’s heroes have turned into zombies! But they aren’t the shambling, mindless drones. These are zombies still in possession of their skills and powers. So, “Who will save us from our heroes?” That’s the question in the trailer for Marvel Zombies.

The animated series trailer begins with a warning that it is rated M before a zombie’s head is splattered open by an arrow. Things just get crazier as zombie Okoye is shown leading an army of the undead, followed by shots of zombie Captain America, Hawkeye, and others.

Yelena Belova announces that “all the Avengers are dead, and they’re coming for us.” Luckily she’s teaming up with people like Shang-Chi, Blade, Ms. Marvel, and Red Guardian. The fast paced trailer continues by revealing zombie Namor, Spider-Man taking out a swath of zombies with his webbing, zombie Scarlet Witch using her magic, zombie Ghost fighting with a sword, and more.

Marvel Zombies is a spinoff of the What If? animated show, which featured an episode that saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes fighting zombie versions of other superheroes. The concept was initially explored in the Marvel Zombies limited comic series by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips that was published from December 2005 to April 2006.

The show is set in the same world of the zombified Avengers and will introduce new survivors from the MCU and comic series.

The voice cast is led by Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Randall Park as Jimmy Wu, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, Dominque Thorne as Iron Heart, and Todd Williams as Blade.

Brad Andrews, the director of the What If? Marvel Zombies episode, is serving as the showrunner and executive producer on the show. The four-episode miniseries is written by Deadpool & Wolverine co-writer Zeb Wells.

Marvel Zombies will start streaming on Disney+ on September 24, 2025.
