Archie & Army of Darkness Collide in Slate of Crossovers
Deadites are descending upon Riverdale! Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics are collaborating on a multi-title deal with a crossover between Archie characters and Army of Darkness.
Riverdale is a lovely place – aside from the strange things that occasionally happen there. Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of their crew are about to meet the Deadites when the Army of Darkness and the Necronomicon enter their town. Fortunately for the teens of Riverdale they won’t be facing the monsters alone. Ash Williams and his boomstick are also on the way to Riverdale.
“Ash Williams has seen it all: demonic forces, time travel, monstrous doppelgängers. But Ash might be in for his toughest battle yet: fighting a horde of deadites alongside a group of teenagers!” Archie Comics Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante said. “Thankfully, Archie and his friends are no strangers to the undead. And we couldn’t be more excited for everyone to see what madness will ensue when these two horror icons collide!”
“It’s always a blast to collaborate with other titans of the industry,” Dynamite CEO and Publisher Nick Barrucci said. “We’re excited to be back in business with Archie and the whole Riverdale crew, cooking up some exciting stories and more for fans. Leading off with the franchise that started it all for us at Dynamite was the perfect choice.”
Archie and Dynamite began their collaborations in 2019 with Red Sonja and Vampirella Meet Betty and Veronica. The interdimensional tale starring the very different heroines was written by Amy Chu and featured art by Maria Laura Sanapo.
Both publishers routinely mix their characters with ones from other titles or publishers. Archie recently released Archie Meets Jay and Silent Bob, delivering a mature tale when Kevin Smith’s characters met the teens from Riverdale. Ash Williams had his own adventure in Army of Darkness vs. Re-Animator, pitting the cynical hero against mad scientist Herbert West.
Dynamite and Archie will announce more details on the new crossover soon.
