Marvel Zombies Animated Series Moves Premiere Date
The Marvel Zombies animated miniseries is shambling to Disney+ sooner than viewers expected. The Disney+ show has moved from its October 3, 2025 debut to a new start date of September 24. After that, new episodes will stream weekly, leading up to Halloween.
Marvel Zombies is a spinoff of the What If? animated show, which saw Earth’s Mightiest Heroes battling zombified versions of other superheroes. The concept was initially explored in the Marvel Zombies limited comic series by Robert Kirkman and Sean Phillips that was published from December 2005 to April 2006.
The “What If… Zombies?!” episode saw Bruce Banner return to Earth like he did in Avengers: Infinity War, only to find the world overrun by zombies. Some of them included heroes like Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Wong who were infected by a quantum virus that spread around the world when Janet van Dyne was saved from the Quantum Realm.
The small group of heroes who fought back were led by Spider-Man, Black Panther, Okoye, Winter Soldier, Ant-Man’s head, the Wasp, Sharon Carter, Happy Hogan, and Scott Lang’s X-Con co-worker Kurt. It ended with Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Ant-Man as the only ones to survive zombie Scarlet Witch. They devised a plan to use the Mind Stone to create a cure, as a zombie Thanos had gathered the other five Infinity Stones.

“After the Avengers are overtaken by a zombie plague, a desperate group of survivors discover the key to bringing an end to the super-powered undead, racing across a dystopian landscape and risking life and limb to save their world,” per the synopsis.
The show will be set in the same world of the zombified Avengers and introduce new survivors from the MCU and comic series. It will feature the voices of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Elisabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, Awkwafina as Katy, Randall Park as Jimmy Wu, and Todd Williams in an undisclosed role. Tessa Thompson and Wyatt Russell have joined the cast as Valkyrie and US Agent, respectively.
Brad Andrews, the director of the What If? Marvel Zombies episode, is serving as the showrunner and executive producer on the show. The four-episode miniseries is written by Deadpool & Wolverine co-writer Zeb Wells.
