
Hama Files Editions G.I. Joe Program Launches
Skybound and Image Comics have collaborated with Hasbro on the Hama Files Editions program. It reprint classic, memorable issues of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero with insights from writer Larry Hama. The program begins in the fall of 2025.
Hama is synonymous with the title, having written most of the Marvel G.I. Joe issues from the debut in February 1982 to issue 155 in October 1994. He brought authenticity to the book by filling it with military strategy and terms, as well as martial arts and Eastern philosophies. For the Hama Files Editions, the writer will provide behind the scenes details and into key issues of G.I. Joe.
The program will begin with a special printing of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #26, written and penciled with Hama with inks by Steve Leialoha (Sandman) and colors by George Roussos (Fantastic Four). The issue tells the origin of fan-favorite character Snake Eyes, revealing secrets from his past and his connection to Storm Shadow. It will be in comic shops on November 26.

“Each issue of the Hama Files reprints an essential issue of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero,” Skybound Editorial Director Alex Antone said. “And inside each issue, a letter from the legendary Larry Hama, adds fresh insight and perspective to these all-time classic comics. We can’t wait for G.I. Joe fans to check ‘em out!”
The program has a main cover by Mike Zeck and Bob Wiacek and a line of variant covers that includes an open to order variant cover by current G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero series artist Chris Mooneyham and foil version of Zeck and Wiacek’s cover.
