DC; $3.99

Black Canary, Batgirl, Oracle, and Sin/Megaera need some serious backup when Big Barda gets compromised by Inque. How will they stop a New God and save their teammate from Inque’s influence? With a little help from the rest of the Birds of Prey.

Enter Harley Quinn, Vixen, John Constantine, Onyx, Cela, and Poe to help neutralize and free the enraged – and very dangerous – Big Barda. That task is only one of the threats that the Birds of Prey face in the conclusion of the “On the Run” storyline. They still have to stop Daemon Prime and the Shadow Army from whatever they have planned for the dangerous technology and chemicals they stole.

Writer Kelly Thompson, penciler Sami Basri, inker Vicente Cifuentes, and colorist Adriano Lucas close this arc with plenty of action, humor, and heart. Embracing the found family theme, we see teammates looking out for each other whatever the cost, and using their unique abilities to form a strong team unit. Within the bonding and butt-kicking moments are bits of levity provided by Harley and Barda, and foreshadowing of upcoming battles by Canary and Oracle.

This issue had a series finale vibe, but thankfully, there’s more to come for the Birds of Prey.
