Independence Movements, Political Strife in Free Planet
The story of a free society mottled by separatists, revolutionaries, intergalactic threats, and more will unfold in Free Planet Vol. 1. The graphic novel by Aubrey Sitterson (No One Left to Fight) and artist Jed Dougherty (Savage Heart) will be released in November 2025 from Image Comics.
“The first completely free planet in human history has won its independence. In Free Planet, readers follow a group of revolutionary heroes who must defend the planet’s unique energy source from a pair of hostile intergalactic powers while determining what complete freedom actually entails,” per the description.
Free Planet explores political themes that mirror some of today’s issues, as well as societal structure, separatist movements, counterrevolutionaries, and a trade war. In their description, Image compared it to series like Dune and East of West.
“Demands to be read in a comfy chair, next to a fire, or the window of a starship, while taking in a distant supernova. Sitterson and Dougherty are holding a masterclass in rich, intricate worldbuilding that is equal parts Dune, Claremont, and Saga while being wholly original,” Robert Kirkman said.
Free Planet Vol. 1 will be in comic shops on November 26.
