Keenspot; $5.99

The kids have sought refuge from the werewolf by climbing the water tower but find it shaky and unstable. When the situation becomes precarious a mysterious new character arrives – a silver man who flies. Down below, the Monster Slayer and the werewolf are engaged in a vicious battle, and Mac and Joe follow the scant clues to a surprising encounter. In the past, Maldor and his apprentice encounter a witch, and elsewhere in the present, Igor introduces another housemate to the story.

Every issue of Mark Spears Monsters is filled with content and no filler. There are multiple storylines happening at the same time and each has a distinct flavor. Parts are strictly creature feature as the monsters start to come together, the Slayer’s pages have a hardened action movie feel, and the addition of the kids brings in a little Goonies energy.

Spears art is a delight on every page, with such amazing detail. The mysterious new character looks like a highly toned body builder, and you can see the years of police duty on Joe and Mac’s faces. The panel layout has tons of variety, focusing on the drama of some moments and expanding to capture the action in others.
