Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is set to boldly go into new territory with the help of Jim Henson’s Creature Shop. Paramount+ revealed that season four will feature a puppet themed episode that will turn the crew of the USS Enterprise into puppets. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop have created the puppets, and the episode will be directed by Jordan Canning (Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock).

The news came during Star Trek’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, which was moderated by Star Trek: Voyager star Robert Picardo. The Strange New Worlds portion of the panel included co-showrunners and executive producers Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers, executive producer Alex Kurtzman, and cast members Rebecca Romijn, Ethan Peck, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, and Paul Wesley.

The panel audience got to see the episode “A Space Adventure Hour,” directed by Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation). The special murder mystery themed episode starts when La’An tests a prototype holodeck with a fake case that becomes harder and harder to solve and puts the Enterprise in danger.

Strange New Worlds season three began on July 17, 2025, with weekly episodes arriving on Thursdays through September 11. The cast and crew have already wrapped season four and it was announced that the show will continue for a fifth and final season.

“In Season 3, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of Season 2’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve. An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, Season 3 takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek,” per the synopsis.

The series also stars Anson Mount, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, and Martin Quinn. Season three guest stars include Rhys Darby, Patton Oswalt, Cillian O’Sullivan, Melanie Scrofano, and Carol Kane.
