Dark Horse; $19.99

A perennial favorite fantasy roleplaying game and a beloved supernatural TV show based in 1980s nostalgia come together in the limited series Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons. Starting well before they battled the Demogorgon, the boys of Hawkins, Indiana, set out on a quest in their favorite game. From there, each issue progresses through their adventures with Eleven and the Upside Down, until it catches up with Mike, Lucas, Will, Dustin, Eleven, and Max at the conclusion of season three.

This four-issue series by Jody Houser and Jim Zub smoothly weaved a story that fit in both worlds with all the adventure and suspense one should expect. The kids from Stranger Things face their struggles in the game, becoming the braver, more heroic versions of themselves. They put their desire for adventure and cathartically deal with more complicated emotions into the gameplay as the party traverses the landscape of Dungeons & Dragons.

A great companion to both franchises, it was an enjoyable read for comic fans of all ages.
