IDW; $21.99

It’s 1922 and popular party man Jay Gatsby is throwing another soirée and hoping to draw the attention of Daisy Buchanan – that is until his Long Island estate is attacked by Godzilla! The shock of the kaiju’s attack wears off quickly enough and Gatsby becomes singularly (mostly) focused on stopping the monster. Of course, he’ll need the help of other astounding fictional (and one or two real) figures like Sherlock Holmes and the mysterious Time Machinist from the future.

This three-issue graphic novel written and illustrated by Tom Scioli lives up to the name. Godzilla wreaks havoc as only he can, and the team trying to stop him are filled with heroism, spunk, and no small amount of drama. They work fairly well together, despite egos bumping into each other, and amuse each other with their big personalities.

It’s a really fun read from beginning to end.
