Heritage Weekly Auctions: First Punisher, Kirby Superman Art
The Punisher’s debut, a Rich Buckler illustration of Deathlok, and a high grade copy of Tekken Advance are among the highlights in Heritage’s weekly auctions. The Comic Books Select Auction ends on Sunday through Tuesday, June 1-3, 2025, the Video Games Mini-Boss Auction concludes on Tuesday, June 3, and the Comic Art & Illustration Auction closes on Wednesday, June 4.
In the comic auction, Heritage is offering Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 9.8, featuring the first appearance of the Punisher, plus the debut of the villainous Jackal. Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen #137 CGC 9.8 is a well known Jack Kirby DC project because the publisher had Neal Adams revise Kirby’s version of Superman’s face on the cover to match the Man of Steel’s then-current look.
The original art auction features a Deathlok illustration by co-creator Rich Buckler, showing the character in a 3/4 portrait and is signed by the artist. John Byrne and Al Milgrom’s Amazing Spider-Man #13 story page 6 starts with Mary Jane Watson-Parker hailing a cab while her husband, Spider-Man, soars between the buildings above.
An important entry in the video game auction is Tekken Advance CGC 9.4 sealed for Gameboy Advance, which was the first Tekken game developed for a Nintendo system and the only installment made for a handheld game. Asterix and the Great Rescue CGC 9.6 sealed for Sega Game Gear is a colorful side-scrolling platformer based on the popular French comic series.
