Skybound and Image Comics is partnering with the New York Public Library for author talks with some of Skybound’s top creators. The events will be held online from May through October 2025.

Creators participating in the talks are Tillie Walden (Clementine Book Three), Faith Erin Hicks (Universal Monsters: The Mummy), Matt Braly and Ainsworth Lin (Family Force V), Sarah Graley and Stef Purenins (Pizza Witch), and Brian “Smitty” Smith and Marz Jr. (Transformers: Worst Bot Ever – Meet Ballpoint!). They will talk about new and upcoming works published at Skybound and Skybound Comet, the imprint for middle grade and young adult readers.

“We’re very excited to team up with the NYPL to spotlight the incredible creators behind everything from zombie survival and pizza magic to monster mysteries and ambitious bots,” Skybound Director of Brand, Editorial Alex Hargett said. “These talks offer a fun and engaging way for readers everywhere to connect with the talent bringing these unforgettable stories to life. We’re so proud to support libraries as essential spaces for discovery, imagination, and community.”

The first author talk is on Tuesday, May 27 with Braly and Lin, who will talk about their debut graphic novel, Family Force V. On June 4, Walden will discuss her upcoming graphic novel, Clementine Book Three. The July 8 talk is with Graley and Purenins, who will discuss their Pizza Witch! graphic novel. On July 11, Smith and Marz will talk about their graphic novel, Transformers: Worst Bot Ever – Meet Ballpoint. Then on October 2, Hicks will discuss the Universal Monsters: The Mummy limited series.

“We are excited to host these author talks with Skybound to highlight not only the up and coming comics our patrons will surely be excited to get their hands on, but also all of the comics that our patrons, both young and old, can access for free with their Library card,” said Tabrizia Jones, Young Adult Senior Librarian for The New York Public Library.

Copies of the Clementine trilogy, Family Force V, Pizza Witch, Transformers: Worst Bot Ever – Meet Ballpoint!, and Universal Monsters: The Mummy will be available through the New York Library with a valid library card.
