Free Comic Book Day: Superman’s Good Guy Gang
DC
Free Comic Book Day is a nice family outing where kids can learn about comics and get free stuff (something parents can certainly appreciate). This year, DC produced an all-ages adventure with Superman, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl to entertain kids and parents alike.
The story introduces young versions of those heroes, as Superman and Green Lantern mistakenly think that Hawkgirl is up to no good. When they threaten to stop her, a perplexed Hawkgirl engages in some kickball tactics to silence the boys. Then the trio learn that they, and a group of puppies, aren’t the only ones hanging out in the park.
The Free Comic Book Day issue is a preview of the Superman’s Good Guy Gang graphic novel written and illustrated by Rob Justus. It’s definitely made for kids, complete with Saturday Morning Cartoon jokes and physical gags, but isn’t so over the top that adults can’t also enjoy the child-sized adventure.
