Under a spectacular Captain Marvel (a.k.a. “Shazam!”) cover by C.C. Beck, readers were treated to a pair of superb articles. “Charles Clarence Beck: The World’s Second Mightiest Mortal” by historian and longtime MAD Associate Editor Jerry DeFuccio, and “Mr. Mind and the Monster Society of Evil” Beck himself.

This edition’s cover remains one of the Guide’s most popular over its 50-year history.
