A new Guardian is reporting for duty in National City. In March 2021, it was announced that Kelly Olsen would take on the superhero identity vacated by her brother James for the final season of Supergirl. Now, The CW series has revealed the first look at Kelly (Azie Tesfai) as Guardian.

Though Kelly has used the shield previously, this will be her first time officially taking on the name of Guardian. She’ll debut in the new role in episode 12, titled “Blind Spot,” which deals with racial inequality. It is set to air on September 21.

That episode is also special because Tesfai co-wrote it with co-producer J. Holtham, making her the first Arrowverse actor to write a script for one of the shows. Additionally, Arrow star David Ramsey directed the episode and will appear as John Diggle.

Supergirl’s midseason finale is on Tuesday, May 11. The series will return for the second half of the final season on August 24.
