Black Lightning has dropped a brief promo for the upcoming series finale. The heroes are in distress with Black Lightning buried alive as Tobias Whale addresses the people of Freeland. Elsewhere, Lightning engages in another battle with Police Chief Ana Lopez. The trailer also showcases one final showdown between Jefferson Pierce and Tobias Whale.

The show is tightlipped on the synopsis for this episode, focusing on its standing as the series finale, which is set to air on May 24, 2021 on The CW.

The Cress Williams-led series began its four-year run in January 2018, introducing the lightning-powered hero to the Arrowverse. The show also stars Nafessa Williams and Laura Kariuki as his superpowered daughters Anissa/Thunder and Jennifer/Lightning, Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale, and James Remar as Peter Gambi.

The world of Black Lightning may continue through a Painkiller spinoff, starring Jordan Calloway as Khalil Payne/Painkiller. The potential series got a backdoor pilot during the current season of Black Lightning, showing the young man struggling with the violence of his past and his two different personalities as a normal young man and as a killing machine. The series has not been officially added to The CW roster yet.
