Harley Quinn Animated Series Renewed for Season 4
Harley and her cohorts will be back to cause chaos and wreak havoc in Gotham City for another season. The Harley Quinn animated series has been renewed for a fourth season. The news comes as somewhat of a surprise considering how many DC projects have been axed since the Warner Bros. and Discovery merger.
The fourth season of Harley Quinn will also introduce a new showrunner. Sarah Peters is stepping in as executive producer and showrunner, taking over from series co-creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker. Prior to this new role, Peters wrote episodes of the show, including the season two episode “Bachelorette” and the season three premiere.
“We are ecstatic that HBO Max wants the story of Harley and Ivy to continue,” Schumacker and Halpern said in a statement. “And we are equally thrilled that this next season will be in great hands with Sarah Peters as our showrunner and Ceci Aranovich overseeing animation production, as they have both greatly influenced the show with their brilliance since the beginning.”
Harley Quinn, which is currently airing season three on HBO Max, began with Harley (Kaley Cuoco) ditching her toxic boyfriend, the Joker (Alan Tudyk). She formed a villain team with Poison Ivy (Lake Bell), Clayface (Tudyk), King Shark (Ron Funches), and Frank the Plant (J.B. Smoove) to compete with other baddies of Gotham. During their various schemes, Harley and Ivy fell in love, and caused all kinds of trouble, much to the chagrin of Commissioner Gordon (Christopher Meloni) and Batman (Diedrich Bader).
New episodes drop on HBO Max on Thursdays.
