There are plants and animals discovered all over the world that go on to be lost for decades. The scientific pursuit of finding them is the subject of The Search for Lost Species, the new Renegade Game Studios tabletop game. It is currently seeking backers on Kickstarter.

Using the game system created for Search for Planet X, it invites players to travel around the island to seek the wildlife via a companion app, use surveys and logic rules to report sightings, and record findings. Made for 1-4 players, it is rated for ages 13 and up, and should take around an hour to complete.

It comes with a game board, note sheets, four player screens, scientist and expedition pawns, a construction boat token holder, mountain, sighting, timing, and other tokens, town and lost species cards, a rulebook, and more.

To be environmentally friendly, the game does not use plastic wraps, bags, or pieces. Instead, it features wooden tokens and recyclable paper.

The Kickstarter campaign provides many other details on the creative process, the companion app, and pledge perks. The campaign more than doubled its goal of $10,000 on the first day and will be live until Thursday, March 2, 2023.
