Heritage is hosting a Pre-Code Horror & Crime Comics Auction on July 13-14, 2023. The two-day auction features shocking covers and controversial stories that upset parents – since comics of the time were primarily aimed at kids – and prompted the Senate to hold committee meetings on censoring comic content.

Top lots in the auction are Tomb of Terror #15 CGC 5.0 (Lee Elias exploding face cover) and #16 CGC 9.0 Northford Pedigree (special sci-fi issue), Blue Bolt #111 CGC 6.0 (last Blue Bolt in title), Almanaque de O Terror Negro #nn CGC 4.5 (Brazilian horror magazine), and Weird Terror #7 CGC 6.5 (Don Heck body in furnace cover).

Additional highlights are Voodoo Annual #1 CGC 5.0 (Matt Baker art), Punch Comics #19 CGC 8.0 (Paul Gattuso giant claws cover), Mister Mystery #11 CGC 6.0 (highest graded copy), and Speed Comics #28 CGC 1.8 (Bob Powell giant Nazi monster cover).
